Unfortunately, the stock while in decent condition does have a noticeable crack along the side of the butt. I'd like to find a replacement stock for this rifle, what is my best option?

The lower piece of the stock is a seperate piece of wood that is dovetailed into the stock. Remove the buttplate to see the splice.
Join Date Dec Location Charlotte, NC Posts 15, Sounds ok, like beebz said the crack is a splice not a defect. A Type 38 stock will not fit a T 99, nor vice versa. Keep the original stock, do not sand or in any way refinish it.
A messed with stock kills the collectability of a Japanese rifle. Sponsored Links Remove Advertisements. I was wondering if the "crack" wasn't really a crack, as it follows exactly the same line on both sides of the stock, and the grain of wood is slightly different above and below the "splice". I guess I'll just leave well enough alone, and not mess with the stock. I'm going to pick the rifle up this weekend, and I'll try to post a few pics of it next week.
