Post it in series Part 1, Part 2, etc. My SO had a Skype interview with her in for a position with 99dresses. He didn't get it in the end, but looks like it was a whole lot of pain anyhow. I'm glad she's openly talking about failure. It should happen more open. We're told that it's normal to fail and shouldn't be ashamed, but we are often made to feel shame, I think. As Nikki says, you're never supposed to say anything negative, but c'mon.

Start-ups can be the craziest ride you'll ever know. I get that she was trying to be helpful in explaining what previously was not exactly explained, her failure, but it would be more helpful if she went into greater detail. From the article it sounded like she was constantly pivoting. Australia to the US, back to AU, web platform to mobile only, and on and on. It would be helpful and interesting if she took the time to dissect everything and figure out what worked and what didn't.

What added to the cause of failure, what kept it barely alive.

She's had around 5 years of experience in failure, that is useful information for her and us! There are bucket loads of talks dissecting strategies and decisions, and they are very unique to the situation.

The point of this is to highlight the emotional toll a startup can take, not whether mobile or web is the better strategy. There are plenty if people talking strategy, not enough letting peopke know what they are getting into as an entrepreneur.

Comments: Dominant Younger Siblings (opposite sex)

As someone not familiar with 99 Dresses I found it somewhat confusing to follow because she provided no detail on her pivots or even what her company actually was. I appreciated the emotions but didn't understand what the business was, why it failed, and what changes they made along the way. There are definitely some unique ways I can think of that she could 'pivot' her company to have another chance at success. Entrepreneur submitted 2 years ago by Llamarama Not quite a case study, but informative nonetheless: It's a shame she didn't make it! We were rooting for her. Startups is hard werk. They never even described what they did. Posts are automatically archived after 6 months.
